RCB-W vs DC-W: Definitely Not The Start We Wanted

[ad_1]

Royal Challengers Bangalore Women had a rough start to their WPL campaign as the Smriti Mandhana-led side were handed a 60-run defeat in their opening fixture. Trying to chase the mammoth target of 223 runs on the board, RCB-W collapsed under pressure despite a decent start and could manage to get just 163 runs in 20 overs.

Skipper Smriti Mandhana had a subpar outing with the bat as she could only get 35 runs for her side and had to walk back to the dugout as she failed to convert her start into a much-needed big knock.

While Ellyse Perry and Heather Knight made some contributions to the scoreboard, no other batter from the side was able to get past the onslaught of Tara Norris who bagged five wickets while giving away just 29 runs in her four overs.

WPL 2023: Smriti Mandhana Hopes Bangalore Will Bounce Back Stronger

Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Smirti Mandhana was talking to the broadcasters during the post-match presentation where she talked about how the Delhi Capitals opening pair of Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma took the game away in the first innings, while she was a bit unhappy with her team’s performance, she knows they will bounce back stronger.

“Definitely it’s not the start we wanted. We gave a few extra runs about 20-30 runs. We failed to bowl the slower deliveries in the middle overs as DC bowlers did. This is the thing we need to work on.”

“We are used to playing back-to-back matches for the franchises, we have a few hours to get back to think about and hopefully, we will come stronger tomorrow. The wicket didn’t change much we got the start but we failed to capitalize on it.”

Smriti Mandhana and her side will now face Mumbai Indians tomorrow. Mumbai are huge on momentum with their massive win over Gujarat in the season opener and will pose a big threat to Bangalore.
