The Ministry of Youth and Sports has gone to the aid of former Ghana U20 head coach Sellas Tetteh.

Following a visit by a delegation from the Ministry on Monday, February 20, a cash sum of GHS50,000 has been donated to support the coach who has been battling an illness since last year.

“The Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon Evans Opoku Bobie on Monday 20th February, 2023 led a delegation of officials from the Ministry to pay a visit to the ailing former coach of the Black Satellites, Mr Sellas Tetteh at his residence in Accra.

“The Deputy Minister expressed his excitement for seeing the coach healthy and hearty after receiving reports of his ill health.

“He noted that the purpose of the visit was to ascertain the health condition of the coach and also to make a cash donation of Fifty thousand Ghana cedis (GHc50,000) on behalf of H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to meet the medical expenses of the coach,” part of a statement from the Sports Ministry after the visit reads.

The Deputy Minister stressed that the visit was extremely important considering the role and contribution the former coach had played in the development of football in Ghana.

He added that the delegation will continue to follow up and pay regular visits to the coach and expressed optimism that his health condition will improve soon.

Speaking on behalf of coach Sellas Tettey, Mr. Michael Lassey Teivi, a brother to the coach expressed his gratitude to H.E. the President for the kind gesture and promised to make good use of the amount donated.
