Mark Taylor Urges Selection Committee To Decide On Australian Opener’s Future Before Ashes

David Warner, the prominent Australian opening batsman, has been struggling to perform up to his usual standards in Test cricket lately. David Warner failed to make any significant impact in the first two matches of the Border Gavaskar Trophy and was subsequently ruled out of the remaining two matches due to a concussion and an elbow fracture.

Despite his recent poor form and injury setbacks, Warner has vowed to continue playing international cricket until at least 2024. In fact, he has even expressed his strong desire to compete in the upcoming Ashes series later this year. Despite the ups and downs of his recent form, Warner remains determined to continue representing his country and contributing to its success on the international stage.

Former Australian captain Mark Taylor has urged the selectors to make a decision on David Warner’s future in Test cricket ahead of the upcoming Ashes series later this year, following Warner’s declaration of his intent to play international cricket until 2024.

Mark Taylor Gives His Frank Opinion On David Warner’s Future

Taylor’s request comes as Warner’s recent form in Test cricket has been below his usual standards, and the selectors may need to make some tough decisions regarding his inclusion in the squad for the upcoming series.

“Dave has come out and said he wants to be around until 2024, so he wants to go to England later this year, he wants to play in Australia next summer. So he has really thrown the ball over to (selectors) George Bailey, Tony Dodemaide, (and captain) Pat Cummins, the selectors to say ‘OK what do you want to do?’.”

“To me, the selectors have got to make a decision. Whether they take David Warner and one of probably Bancroft or Renshaw to England, Dave would be the first opener picked. Or they make a decision now and say right to, we’re going to take the two younger guys… we’re going to make a change right now. That’s the decision they’ve got to make. Dave has said, ‘OK, over to you, I am available, I want to play’.”

Taylor’s statement suggests that there may be some uncertainty regarding Warner’s future, and the selectors may need to carefully consider his recent performances before making a final decision on his place in the team.
