Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has suggested Cristiano Ronaldo could have continued in Europe for ‘two or three more years’.

Ronaldo joined Al Nassr on a free transfer from Manchester United in January. The 38-year-old signed a reported $200 million-per-year deal with the Saudi Arabian club until June 2025. In his first four games, he has already scored five goals – including a quadruple in his last outing.

“I would have liked him to play two or three more years in the top leagues,” Calderon told GB News about Ronaldo.

“I think he’s still fit, in good shape. He’s been a player that has taken care of himself very well for all of his career. But I suppose he thought that this is a good option, so I wish him the best as to all the players that have been playing with us.”

Calderon served as Real Madrid’s president between July 2006 and January 2009. His tenure at the club ended seven months prior to Ronaldo’s then-world record €94 million transfer from Manchester United.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner scored a club-record 450 goals in 438 games for Real Madrid before his departure in 2018.
